Singer-songwriter Alyssa Scott is an independent country/pop artist that reflects dreamy vibes, storyteller lyrics, and a country/bohemian style. Currently residing in Nashville, TN, Scott writes, records, and performs for her beloved fans. She has fronted some of the top stages in Nashville, including Alley Taps, the Row, and Johnny Cash’s Saloon. Scott currently has four singles on all streaming platforms and three singles on Spotify that have successfully reached over 100,000 streams each. Today, Alyssa is busy in the studio working on her debut album \’WILD\’ which will premiere in September of 2021. Tell us about your new music.
Coming off my last single “WILD,” I wanted “Runaway” to the water to the WILD fire. It is a bit airy yet dreamy with meaningful lyrics that really sweep you off your feet for a moment in time. I am looking to uplift my audience from the dreariness of their own lives, telling them that they should break free and go for whatever they want, no matter the circumstances. I hope many other people’s minds can get lost for a few minutes!
What was the writing and recording process?
I wrote “Runaway” during the pandemic when I felt extremely stuck at home. I sat staring out the window dreaming of all the places I’d like to go, dreaming of running away no matter the obstacles, and manifesting the positive thoughts of I don’t have to stay down right now because the world is a bit sad. “Runaway” is meant to lift a person up!
My producer, George Alexander, listened to what I wanted for “Runaway” and thought to add the natural sound of a Baldwin piano. I am so glad we did, it truly incorporated the raw sound that I wanted throughout the entire song. It was an extremely hands-on process. From the writing to the production, I was involved in every piece which makes it even more rewarding to hear the final product.
