“California Country” is the latest release from rising singer-songwriter Olivia Ooms. The single, co-written and produced by ACM Award-winner Jamie O’Neal, combines Ooms’ coastal roots and southern sound.
Ooms’ debut single “Thoughts of You,” landed the sixteen-year-old entertainer a spot in CMT’s Artist Discovery Program, a performance on CMA’s Spotlight Stage and placement as the first female country artist featured on Radio Disney’s RDYou Station.
“Growing up in a western beach town, some say I can’t be a true country singer because I’m not from the South. This song attempts to dispel that idea and embracing the carefree California lifestyle bridges the gap between West Coast Country and traditional Southern Country,” expressed Ooms.
Fans can look forward to the music video for “California Country,” will be released next week with a special viewing during Ooms’ performance at Surf City Nights on Tuesday, Aug. 13 in her hometown of Huntington Beach, Calif.
Ooms regularly performs at venues throughout her home state with her band Highway 39. Ooms has also opened for artists such as Lady Antebellum, Old Dominion and country music icon Tanya Tucker, whose path Ooms can certainly relate to as a teenage songstress rising to fame.
