(KANSAS CITY, MO) August 16, 2018- The Midwestern loud and pretty alternative group known as Vigil and Thieves are thrilled to embark on their next adventure through the release of their debut LP make sure they hear you on August 24, 2018. The 10-track anthology is a compilation of stories and experiences from the past 4 years. MSTHY features the production and engineering work of John Burke at The Record Shop in Nashville, Tennessee as well as the mastering expertise of the one and only Sarah Register (The Shins, Sia, Andrew W.K., Pussy Riot, etc.). Each track offers sediment of past moments, passed friends, present struggles, eventual news, and hopeful conclusions. Sarah Storm‘s pristine and mountainous yet brooding vocals marry with supernatural guitars to create a diverse palette for any thoughtful listener while the rhythm section chisels a cohesive structure to house the elephant in the room.
Vigil and Thieves is a Kansas City alternative band, better described as “loud and pretty,“ that formed in early 2014. Previously labeled as “grandiose” with a “heartbreaking heaviness,” the band has honed in on dynamic and lyrically-driven song structures that have been compared to live poetry. Their debut album, make sure they hear you, has already been backed by noteworthy publications including I Heart Local Music, CAMP Kansas City Magazine, and The Pitch. With 2 EPs, 3 tours, festival performances (Midcoast Takeover during SXSW, Middle of the Map, Pittsburgh Pride, etc.), volunteer efforts at Girls Rock! Camp, and an upcoming West Coast run; Vigil and Thieves are a group of activists utilizing their first full length as a means of fighting for social change and equality.
For fans of Circa Survive, Blondie, PVRIS, and more.
