Summer is Here – Get Your Music On!

After long hours of working and studying, it is finally time for some summer musical fun! One of the best ways you can enjoy your time off and improve your playing skills is to attend a summer music camp.  Here are some options for the ultimate summer musical fun!

If you are looking to meet people who play different instruments, learn and perform songs, or even learn a new instrument, there are a lot of options out there for you. Locally you can find examples like the School of Rock Summer Day Camps. These are mini versions of their School of Rock Performance Programs. You get to work out a set list, use professional equipment, and have fun learning about music and even performing original songs.

Another option is the Musicians Institute Summer Shot Camp. Spend a week in Hollywood on MI’s state-of-the-art college campus. See what life is like at the Musician’s Institute taking private lessons from the professional instructors and working with a band recording in the studio and performing at the MI campus.  Stewart Jean, Program Chair for Drums at Musician’s Institute says, “The staff and faculty at MI love when Summer Shot rolls around. It’s an extremely fun and educational week for all of the students.”

Looking for something specifically for your instrument? You can attend the Second Annual Daniel Glass Jazz Intensive at the Drummers Collective in the heart of New York City. Whether you’re a novice or a more experienced player, the DG Jazz Intensive offers an intensive course of study, the opportunity to jam and perform with a professional New York rhythm section, learn from all-star guest clinicians, and experience the legendary jazz clubs of Manhattan.  “Attending Daniel Glass’ Jazz Intensive puts you in the heart of swing. If you are serious about learning and feeling what Jazz really is, this is the time and place to be in NYC!” ~ JC Clifford/Partner Daniel Glass Jazz Intensive NYC.

If you are not sure what camp is best for you, it is easy to find a lot of information online and on social media. Talk to your teachers and friends. Do your research and have the ultimate musical summer!
