PÄTER Releases Debut LP 4-7 Company

April 4, 2024 – Alt pop/rock songstress, Päter’s debut LP 4-7 Company is out! Päter says, “Two years i few out to Nanaimo, BC to record my first LP with Howard Redekopp + a small team of incredible musicians. It has been a labour of love to prepare it for you and I’m so excited to finally share it today. It’s Called 4-7 Company (four to seven company) and it’s about the solitary hours between 4-7PM, as day turns into night, when you’re alone with your thoughts and anything can happen. It’s an album about cycles, self, and the critters inside. Who are you when you’re alone?”

In support of their new album Päter will be doing an album release show in Toronto at The Monarch Tavern on April 11thTickets can be purchased at https://plainstage.com/events/4-7companyrelease

In 2020, Parmida emerged as Päter with their first single “Dam, Damn,” a well-received debut that’s amassed 2.4M streams and counting. It opened the doors to the Päterverse, a sonic space inspired by coming-of-age narratives and Päter’s early influences (The Strokes, Kate Bush, Mother Mother) with writing that lives somewhere between Muse and Hillary Duff (yes, really). The resultant mix’s compelling character and extravagance hint at artists like Neko Case, HAIM, and Fiona Apple with more dissonant forms of melody and harmony derived from the classical Iranian music absorbed during Päter’s youth.

After two vibrant EPs, Päter’s forthcoming debut LP 4-7 Company explores the evening hours between work and social life when solitude leads to wandering thoughts. During the writing process, which largely took place over their time in a theatre program, Päter was inspired to look inward and confront blocks that lived in their body and mind. It initiated a painful yet positive transition of examining depression and doubts, digging out demons, and charting chaos and cognitive dissonance to arrive at ease in their own company.

Päter had long admired Juno-winning Howard Redekopp for his work with Mother Mother (also known for Tegan and Sara, the New Pornographers, Said the Whale) and was thrilled when he jumped on board to co-produce 4-7 Company. A highlight of the recording process was sourcing a vintage upright piano with a magical warm tone that showcased the songs’ intimacy, providing fruitful foundations for them to blossom.

Päter will be showcasing at CMW 2024 in Toronto.  In summer 2024, Päter will be taking their upbeat, exuberant live show on tour for the first time, spanning Canada, the US, and eventually beyond.
