Seattle-based indie rock band instant crush announce new album I’M SORRY I DIDN’T BITE MY TONGUE

Seattle-based indie rock band instant crush, is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated debut album, I’M SORRY I DIDN’T BITE MY TONGUE, out on October 25 on Share It Music (pre-order). In anticipation of the release, the band is sharing their latest single, “APOLOGY TOUR,” accompanied by a nostalgic music video that pays homage to the iconic film 10 Things I Hate About You.

The “APOLOGY TOUR” music video, directed by Rachel Lane and Megan Cannon, was shot at the historic Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA—the very setting of the beloved 1999 teen romantic comedy. The band’s Megan Cannon reflects on the inspiration behind the video, saying:

“Growing up, 10 Things I Hate About You was the perfect blend of lightheartedness and relatability. It’s the quintessential coming-of-age film, and as Seattle natives, we wanted to honor our roots by celebrating our youth in a way that felt authentic and true to us.”

“APOLOGY TOUR” premiered today at Flood Magazine and is available on all digital platforms for any playlist shares.

instant crush is also announcing tour dates with Friday Pilots Club. The tour will make stops in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Denver, and more. All upcoming shows are listed below and tickets are available HERE.

Formed in Seattle, instant crush consists of Megan Cannon, Matthew Tran, Keegan Mangahas, and Zoee Mangahas. Setting out to breathe new life into the genre that ruled the 2000s, instant crush is ever-evolving. Mixing sparkly synths, high-energy guitar riffs, and penetrating vocals, they take the energy of the anthemic rock bands that ruled the radio and intertwine it with overly personal lyrics that could be the soundtrack of a coming-of-age film. Put simply, instant crush makes music for the tongue biters who have a lot on their mind.

Having shared the stage with renowned acts such as Del Water Gap, Home Team, The Wrecks, Plain White T’s, Daisy Grenade, and The Academic, instant crush is carving their own space in the alternative music scene that raised them. Their debut album further solidifies themselves as a band to watch.

On the album, Megan Cannon shares:

This album will forever be special to me, because it was never truly my intention to make an album. The first song that was included on this record was written in 2021, and the last in 2023. It truly encapsulates how I felt over the last three years. It captures how I found myself, and who I wanted to be, while tapping into every emotion I have felt. Writing this album taught me how to speak up for myself as a person, and to say what is on my mind no matter how much fear saying those words might bring me.

During this journey I have met and worked with so many incredible people who helped define both the sound of instant crush, and the sound of my musical voice. Fusing shimmery synths, electrifying guitar riffs, and penetrating vocals, the album is both catchy and relatable. Drawing inspiration from acts such as Bloc Party, The Killers, and Paramore, this album has something for everyone.

In partnering with Seattle nonprofit record label Share It Music, a portion of the proceeds from the album are going to our chosen charity, Joyful Heart Foundation. Since 2004, Joyful Heart Foundation has been a leading national organization with a mission to transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse, as well as support survivors, and end this violence forever.
