D’Arcy Unveils New Single/Music Video “One Night”

“One Night,” the new song and music video from singer-songwriter D’Arcy, features a grand, upbeat alt-rock/pop-punk melody that belies the weight of the lyrics.

Inspired by a one-night binge after six years of sobriety, the video, which was directed, shot, and edited by Aria Herbst, substitutes extraterrestrials and UFOs as a metaphor for substance dependence. In the end, the aliens catch the central character off guard.

D’Arcy arrived on the scene in a big way in 2020 with the release of “Crush,” followed by a series of singles and EPs. In 2022, she released her debut album, The Art of Flying, to rave reviews. Last year, she dropped her sophomore album, 5AM.

She’s been featured in an array of elite media outlets, and has performed throughout the U.S, sharing the stage with She Wants Revenge and Lee DeWyze. When not writing or performing, D’Arcy DJs at well-known venues in New York City, including Public, Le Bain, and Good Room.

“One Night” rolls out on tight, platinum guitars riding a crunchy beat that threads the needle between alt-rock and pop-punk. For some reason, the song conjures up suggestions of Liz Phair, Hole, and Alanis Morissette, all at the same time. D’Arcy’s vocals imbue the lyrics with wistful tones that take on flavors of insouciant resignation.

“One night, tonight, just let me be me.”

Shot in grainy shades of blue, black, and white, there’s a The Blair Witch Project texture to the video that adds a found footage ambiance to the visuals.

Rattling with contagious energy, “One Night” finds D’Arcy getting the better of pop-punk and churning out a sticky, fluent track.
