WHAT: Tomorrow, ASCAP Rhythm & Soul presents their next #ASCAPRealSounds “Deconstructed” event with Grammy-winning, Billboard-charting singer/songwriter Joelle James. The session is part of ASCAP Rhythm & Soul’s weekly live-streaming series which has previously featured guests including Warner Records A&R Executive Norva Denton, producer OG Parker, singer/songwriter Kirby, artist Bri Babineaux, songwriter/producer Dre Moon and singer/songwriter Theron Of R. City.
“Deconstructed” is a live conversation with a producer and/or songwriter who takes a behind-the-scenes look at some of their biggest records. Viewers learn about various components of the creation of two to three tracks, including the programming, layered production, beat breakdowns, and suggestions the producer or songwriter may have used from other collaborators.
WHO: Grammy-winning, Billboard-charting singer/songwriter Joelle James, originally born and raised in Murrieta, CA, graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Studies and Voice. Soon after graduation she began to promote her music on social media, and in 2011 her videos caught the attention of singer Chris Brown who signed her to his Interscope imprint CBE (Culture Beyond Experience). James is featured on Brown’s “Leave the Club” and “Scream” (a track she also co-wrote) and in 2019, she received a Grammy for Best R&B Song for her songwriting contribution on Ella Mai’s hit song “Boo’d Up.” She is currently writing, producing, and creating tracks with some of the top producers in the music business including DJ Mustard and Poo Bear.
