Punk Rock Meets Southern Bell: The Stella & Jamie Fashion Line

When opposites collide, sometimes it just doesn’t makes sense.  But if you are April Mun, you find a way to make it work. An alumna of the New York Fashion Institute of Technology, Mun was inspired by her two former assistants (yes, you guessed it) Stella and Jamie. Stella, known to be the “edgy rocker chick” and Jamie, referred to as the “southern bell,” helped inspire Mun to create a fabulous yet somewhat contradictory line of fashion.  Using gorgeous fabrics and lively colors, Mun’s fashion designs are a mix of sweet meets edgy.  Who says who can’t be pretty and tough at the same time?

The Stella & Jamie collection initially included leather motorcycle jackets paired with beautiful printed-silk dresses.  Mun’s goal “is to create a line that evokes a world of contemporary glamour and beauty, with a predilection for rich textures, modern lines and attention to a woman’s body,” she says. “I can’t wait to see what’s next.” Her 2014 spring collection has a very diverse mix of light-weight tops, leather shorts, form fitting dresses with bright colors as well as a typical black and white palette.

Through the past four years, Stella & Jamie has acquired a following from hundreds of boutiques, including some that are international, along with Kittson and Nordstrom.  Prices for pieces from this fashion line range anywhere from $78.00 to $545. The collection was instantly adored by the fashion industry and Hollywood’s elite, such as Lea Michele, Kourtney Kardashian, Christina Aguilera, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, Fergie, and Carly Rae Jepsen, just to name a few.  The 2014 fall collection has heavier fabrics with more subdued colors, but is still awesome and edgier as always.

Stella & Jamie is sold at Kitson, www.shopbop.com, Nordstrom as well as on www.stellaandjamie.com.  Treat yourself to some excellent fashion couture!
