Los Angeles duo The Dollyrots, consisting of bassist/vocalist Kelly Ogden and guitarist Luis Cabezas are known for delivering high-energy punk rock filled with the bubblegum hooks of pop. Since their debut release in 2004, the group has been refining their sound, musical chops, and fun-filled stage show, mixing hook-laden pop-rock gems with a vicious guitar assault and plenty of attitude to spare.
Today the band is proud to announce a new 7″ limited edition pink vinyl release in partnership with indie label juggernaut Cleopatra Records. Following in the footsteps of Weezer’s cover of Toto’s “Africa” and The Atari’s cover of Don Henley’s “Boys Of Summer,” The Dollyrots transform a soft rock classic, “Alone Again (Naturally)” originally recorded in 1972 by Gilbert O’Sullivan, into a fun, fist-pumping punk rock anthem! That track is backed with an original song entitled “That’s Not Even All,” which highlights the band’s double threat as both arrangers and writers!

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Cleopatra Records to release our take on “Alone Again (Naturally)”. The best covers are the ones that get turned on their head, and what we do is drastically different from the original. We’re stoked to have the opportunity to inject some velocity and bubblegum punky energy to a 70’s classic that deserves to come out from under the radar!” – The Dollyrots
The Dollyrots have released albums on Panic Button/Lookout, Blackheart Records, and Little Steven Van Zandt’s Wicked Cool Records. The most recent release is Down The Rabbit Hole, a 24-track collection of B-sides, rarities, and cover songs with a Dollyrots twist. The diverse collection features songs from throughout the band’s 20-year history, remastered and including previously unheard tracks and alternate takes. The trio has hit the Billboard Heatseekers chart multiple times, been featured in movies and television, and has shared stages with some of punk’s biggest names. Kelly is currently the host of Sunrise Surprise radio show weekday mornings from 4 am EST to 8 am EST on SiriusXM’s Underground Garage (Ch. 21) as well as voicing Stevie Van Zandt’s “Coolest Songs in the World” station on SiriusXM (Ch. 721.)
