“Loretta Lynn was the living, breathing description of what it meant to be a woman of country music. Sadly, and appropriately… she takes it with her. No one will ever be more.”
— Gretchen Wilson
Gretchen counted Loretta Lynn a friend and one of her main musical influences, and the two performed together on many occasions. In 2007, Loretta was performing her “You Ain’t Woman Enough To Take My Man” hit on the Grand Ole Opry and called Gretchen Out to join her midway through the song. Gretchen performed “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)” on the 2010 album Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Tribute to Loretta Lynn. On her own Ready To Get Rowdy album, Gretchen dedicated her original song “A Little Loretta” to the First Lady of Country Music.
