October is not all about adding another layer over your staple autumn clothes. It’s also about changing skins. If for one night you could be anyone, what rock-inspired Halloween costume would you choose? Blonde or brunette, get ready to party!
Joann Jett is the first Halloween inspired rock outfit for this year. She’s a classic for powerful ladies wanting to party hard at Halloween parties. All you need is a punkish black wig if and smokey-eyes. A black t-shirt, jacket, jeans and leather boots, with the right attitude, will finish the outfit. If you want to take it one step further, don’t leave your guitar at home. Her advice of the night: “I grew up in a world that told girls they couldn’t play rock ‘n’ roll” so you’d better prove yourself!
If you’re more into blondes, then Debbie Harry is your top choice. The Blondie legendary lead singer will always be a bold female inspiration. Look over her ‘60s or ‘70s looks to start. Go for a black and white wig, a white tank top, leave your bra at home, and try smokey-eyes and a red pout. Opt for shorts or skits, but also a classic pair of jeans and leather boots will finish the look.
If you want to go in a brunette or white hair direction, then punk Patti Smith is for you. Wear an androgynous look with a white shirt and trousers. Add on a vintage leather jacket and boots to finish the ensemble. If you want, try dark eye-make-up with messy hair. Her advice of the night: “Never let go of that fiery sadness called desire.”
Another American rock sweetheart is none other than the scandalous Courtney Love. She’s known for looking for trouble, what about you? Get a messy bangs hairstyle to hide behind and a powerful pink lipstick. Wear a funky, satiny dress with mesh stockings and low-heel boots. You are going to turn heads so be free and wild!
In the hippie department is Janis Joplin, but for her you’ll need a few more accessories. Part of the 27 club, the world will always remember this star for her fun accessories. She will forever have trademarked feather head pieces and many necklaces and bracelets. Think ‘70s funky glasses, a faux fur coat and you’re set! Her advice of the night: “Don’t compromise yourself. You are all you’ve got.”
Last, but definitely not least, is blonde or pink hair Cyndi Lauper. The LGBT rights activist and Cosentyx spokesperson, with over three decades in the rock industry, will offer you a lot of variety this Halloween. One bold look is the pink hair with a rocking dress and boots. Another idea is a red wig with chopped hair on one side and longer on the other. Pair it with rainbow make-up, lots of necklaces, and a one shoulder blouse with leather trousers and high heels.
How are you going to trick-or-treat this year? Rock it like one of our favorite female artists!
