Strumming the Strings of Passion: Liddy Clark's Musical Journey & Melodic Dreams

As seen in Guitar Girl Magazine Issue 23 – Fall 2023

My name is Liddy Clark and I’ve been singing since I was seven years old. I did a lot of musicals and school plays when I was younger (including a professional show in an equity theatre in Miami (Oliver!), and winning the State of Florida top award, Best in Show, for my performance in a One Act Play), but ultimately I wanted to create more pop music and move away from theatre. I learned guitar when I was 14, started writing my own songs, played shows with my own band across multiple states, and finally started releasing music! I’ve been in Los Angeles for almost six years now and am incredibly excited that the unplugged version of my debut full-length album, Made Me, will be available this Fall.

Top 3 songs on your playlist?

  1. “Free Falling” – Tom Petty
  2. “Blue” – Ingrid Andress
  3. “Want Want” – Maggie Rogers

First live concert?

I’m pretty sure it was a Cheetah Girls concert, but the first one I can truly remember would be the Fearless Tour by Taylor Swift herself, of course!

Dream collaboration?

I have a TON of people I’d love to collaborate with, including Julia Michaels, Emily Weisband, JP Saxe, and John Mayer.

Pre-performance ritual?

I always get my cardio in the morning, at least 30 minutes to get my blood pumping and the air moving. Then, I take a hot shower and do vocal warmups there. Finally, I drink some hot, non-caffeinated tea with lemon and honey.

If I wasn’t a musician, I would be . . .

I’d love to be a pastry chef or baker; I’m such a big fan of creating things and enjoying the process of that.
