Alt-country singer-songwriter Melissa Quinn Fox recently released her new single, “New Boots,” a song likening a new relationship to a pair of new boots. They’re a little uncomfortable at first and not supple enough, and might cause a blister or two, but they “look so good.”
Catchy lyrics make the song an earworm that you can’t resist singing along with: “Honey, loving you is like breaking in a new pair of boots / Hurts so bad but baby you look so good / I could find another pair anywhere, but I don’t want to / Honey, loving you is like breaking in a new, breaking in the new pair of boots.”
Originally from Pittsburgh and now based in Charles Town, West Virginia, Fox released “Give It A Try” in 2021, followed by a string of appealing singles and two EPs – her self-titled debut EP in 2022, and Everything Changes in 2023.
Melissa is a five-time Wammie Award winner in the Washington, D.C. area, recognized for Best Country/Americana Song in 2022 and 2024, and for Best Country/Americana Song, Album, and Artist in 2023.
Her music has reached listeners on national and international radio, and she has appeared as a featured guest on Fox5 and WUSA9 morning shows in the Washington, D.C. area. She was also named “One to Watch.”
On stage, Melissa has shared bills with major country artists and opened for national acts including Brad Paisley, Lee Brice, Deana Carter, and Chase Bryant. She has also performed at the Barefoot Country Music Festival in Wildwood, New Jersey, and the Carolina Country Music Festival in Myrtle Beach, alongside artists such as Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, and Brooks & Dunn.
