Alt-country/Americana singer-songwriter Rebekah Snyder recently released her single/music video, “America,” a stripped-down acoustic song that celebrates family, military service, and the spirit of rural life.
“America” provides an appetizer for Snyder’s upcoming EP. The song explores hope, familial responsibility, and the idea of unity. Written just after the horrific attack on 9/11, “America” mirrors the visceral significance of being an American, as well as Snyder’s experiences as a single mother, domestic abuse survivor, and granddaughter of a WWII veteran.
Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, Snyder’s sound echoes her Appalachian roots. Her songs give a voice to the ignored and undervalued. “America” is the first of several releases Snyder has planned for 2025.

“America” opens on a haunting acoustic guitar that takes on gleaming flavors of alt-country as Snyder’s evocative, slightly drawling voice imbues the lyrics with intense passion. The melody ebbs and rises with the raw assertion of the values that define America as America.
“When I was an itty-bitty girl / My grandfather said to me / Girl, you’re in the finest nation / I fought to keep it free / You will grow and you will learn and you, my dear, will see / America has made the world a better place to be.”
The video, directed by Marcos Durian, depicts a solitary Snyder playing her guitar and singing as images from the past give the visuals an intimate wistfulness.
Highlighted by Rebekah Snyder’s rich voice, “America” is the sound of the history and essence of a nation passing by in a moment.
