Indie-punk artist CARR introduces her brand-new EP, entitled TV Boyfriends, via Pack Records.
Speaking to the EP, CARR shares, “This one is dedicated to two different people I used to know. It worked out though, I get to see them on my TV screen all the time.”
Encompassing seven tracks of innovative indie-punk energy, highlights include the angst-filled “Bed Head,” the spiteful “Sarasota,” and “How To Lose a Friend in 10 Days,” a guide to checking out of a relationship with middle finger held high.
With more than 136,000 monthly Spotify listeners, along with over 5 million Spotify streams, CARR released her debut album, I’m Just Bored, in 2021, exhibiting her raw lyrical gift.
CARR’s contagious sound has been featured in an array of elite media outlets, along with features on Spotify’s leading playlists, such as Fierce Femmes, ok whatevs, All New Indie, Fresh Finds, Ultimate Indie, and Indie Pop, in conjunction with beaucoup airplay in the UK from Radio 1 and Radio 1’s Future Alternative.
Guitar Girl Magazine caught up with CARR to discover more about the person behind the music, how she got started in music and her influences.
What three things can’t you live without?
My dog, weed, and a nice blanket.
What inspired your new EP, TV Boyfriends?
My relationship with different people – two of which are actors on TV shows.
Walk us through your mindset as you approached recording the EP.
it was all real feelings, and I went into those sessions with very specific moments and people that I wanted to write about.
How did you get started in music?
I was working part-time at a recording studio when I first moved to LA, and I casually started making music with all my friends that worked there.
Where are you from?
Cherry Hill, NJ.
Did your hometown impact your sound?
I don’t think so, lol.
Which singers/musicians influenced your sound?
Growing up I listened to a lot of Avril Lavigne and alt-pop bands/artists, so I think a lot of that has inspired my current sound.
Did your sound evolve naturally, or did you deliberately push it in a certain direction?
It evolved naturally which I think is cool. When I started making music, I had no idea what I really wanted to do. After a few years, I’ve learned a lot and I know exactly what kind of music I want to make and where I want to go as an artist.
What inspires your writing? Do you draw inspiration from poems, music, or other media?
My music all comes from my experiences with people. I wish I drew from movies etc., but everything I write about is truly what’s happening in my life.
What can you share about your writing process?
It’s pretty much a very personal diary entry, ha-ha!

What can your fans look forward to over the next six months? Music videos? Live gigs?
Music that I’m really, really, really excited for. And some chaos
