A few years ago, when I discovered the original iRig, i was so excited. As a musician that traveled, the iRig (in my case along with the IK multimedia app, AmpliTube) it gave me the ability to practice, record new song ideas, and transcribe songs while on the road with great sound quality, and minimal equipment. I loved the sound quality and ease of the apps that I found that even when I wasn’t on the road, I was using the iRig for practicing and recording ideas at home.
Here we are, in 2015, and IK Multimedia has released the iRig 2. It has a few new features that I was looking forward to checking out. First off, keeping with the original iRig features, it has the same 1/4″ instrument input and a 1/8″ headphone jack. Newly added is a 1/4″ output for an amplifier (VERY Cool !!!), an adjustable gain control, and a thru FX switch.
iRig 2 and iRig 1
When paired with the various apps that IK Multimedia offers, you can create some pretty amazing sounds, build songs, have a wealth of practice tools, and even play those sounds out into your amplifier.
The iRig 2 also comes with a clip and adjustable velcro strap so that you can mount it to a mic stand for practicing or gigs.
I really am enjoying the new features, and I am looking very forward to exploring this great gadget further and keep you posted on more exciting features.
