EIGHT OF THE WORLD’S TOP STREET ARTISTS TO PAINT PUBLIC MURALS DOWNTOWN MAY 1 THROUGH JULY 1
Gibson Custom Division is sponsoring the “Nashville Walls Project,” a downtown mural event, taking place May 1 through July 1. The project will bring eight of the world’s top street artists to Nashville to paint large scale public murals.
“Nashville has always been known as an arts city, and the ‘Nashville Walls Project’ will add to the City’s ‘visual arts’ image. Gibson is proud to invite these world-class artists to our hometown,” said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman/CEO, Gibson Brands.
The interactive event encourages the public to watch the artists paint and converse with them while they create. Artists participating include: Herakut (Germany), Rone (Australia), Niels Muelman (Amsterdam), Adele Renault (Amsterdam), Hush (England), Mars1 (USA), Mike Shine (USA) and Curiot (Mexico).
The first group of artists will arrive in Nashville on May 1. Herakut and Rone will paint murals on the old Harvey’s Department store building, known as Corner Square, located at 530 Church Street. Muelman will paint on City Garage, 298 5th Avenue North, and Renault will paint the lobby of the Kress Building, 235 5th Avenue North.
A second group of artists, Mars1, Hush, Curiot and Shine, will arrive on May 30. Each artist will leave behind a large scale mural for the residents of Nashville to enjoy.
“We are proud of the group of artists coming to Nashville. Combined, they have painted murals on every continent and have been featured in major gallery and museum shows,” said Nashville Walls Project founder, Brian Greif.
Property owners Jim Maddox, Dan Maddox, Bert Mathews, Walker Mathews and Elmington Capital Group are providing walls on their downtown properties for the murals.
