Belgian-born, New Orleans-based blues-rock powerhouse Ghalia Volt returns with her sixth studio album, Burn The House Down, out today, May 15, 2026. Recorded live over two days at The House of Grease in Nashville, Tennessee, the album captures Volt at her most unfiltered — embracing spontaneity, grit, and the kind of raw energy that has become her trademark.
Produced and engineered by acclaimed guitarist and producer JD Simo, Burn The House Down features an all-star lineup including Brian Allen on bass and Chris Powell on drums, with Volt herself handling vocals, guitars, and slide guitar. The record blends hill country blues, garage rock, rock ‘n’ roll swagger, and even flamenco-inspired textures rooted in Volt’s childhood influences.
“There’s no polish hiding these songs,” Volt explains in the album bio. “It’s raw, it’s real, it’s simple. It’s all about spontaneity and feel.”
From the opening groove of “No Ice Please” to the emotionally charged title track “Burn The House Down,” the album thrives on authenticity. Songs like “Lucifer’s Grip” channel hypnotic blues swagger, while “Where Do We Go” delivers a haunting meditation on loss and mortality. Elsewhere, “Mine” takes aim at greed and materialism with biting social commentary, and “Ride” offers a free-spirited anthem driven by infectious rhythm and roots-rock soul.
The album’s title track stands out as one of Volt’s most emotionally devastating performances, chronicling the painful dismantling of shared memories and the emotional wreckage left behind after a relationship collapses.
Volt’s reputation as one of modern roots music’s fiercest voices continues to grow. Since releasing Have You Seen My Woman in 2016, she has earned critical acclaim and Billboard Blues Chart success, including Mississippi Blend, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart, and Shout Sister Shout!, which climbed to No. 2.
Known for her electrifying live performances and slide guitar work praised by Guitar World, Volt has toured extensively across the U.S. and Europe, performing at major festivals including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Telluride Blues Festival, and Bilbao Blues Festival.
With Burn The House Down, Ghalia Volt continues to carve out her own lane in contemporary blues and roots music — honoring tradition while refusing to be confined by genre expectations. The result is an album that feels alive, immediate, and fiercely human.
