GRITTY IN WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH: PIONEERING INPINK PLATFORM TAKES OVER LA WITH 50+ FEMALE MUSICIANS DOMINATING THE ECHO STAGE

Los Angeles, CA | March 9, 2023 Gritty In Pink brought their “Big GRL Energy” to the Echo LA on Tuesday, March 7 to celebrate Women’s Month with their All GRL Jam: Women’s Month Edition! The show featured over 50 women and non-binary artists, bringing the LA community together to honor women with some of your favorite female empowerment jams and anthems! The 21+ event was sponsored by Tunecore, Women In Music, Jagermeister, Teremana, Drew Martin, Get’m Get’m, Guitar Girl Magazine, in partnership with Live Nation Women.

The night kicked off with a femme-powered mashup set by DJ Cristy Lawrence, along with two incredible opening performances. Pop force Chel warmed up the night with her powerhouse vocals, ending her captivating set with her feminist anthem Nasty Woman.” Soulful Senegalese singer-songwriter Marieme, Gritty In Pink’s March Bandmate of the Month cover star, then took the stage and stunned the crowd with her iconic voice. She performed her powerful song “Be The Change” and premiered her upcoming single “Built For Greatness,” also backed by Gritty girl Nikki Stevens on the guitar. Hosts Gritty In Pink founder, Shira Yevin (Shiragirl) and the dynamic Kym Priess (Stunt Driver) rallied the crowd throughout the night.

Vashonda Sherra, Nina Grae, and Shanice Antonia kicked off the jam portion of the night, and channeled their inner En Vogue with their blockbuster hit “Free Your Mind.” Other highlights included Swedish pop-artist Manda Malina giving a flawlessly soulful rendition of Alicia Keys’ “Fallin,” and Jayelle liberated the crowd with Ke$ha’s “Woman” with the help of Rocky Rose on saxophone and Shiragirl backing her up.

The Jam also included face-melting performances from Dani Hagan, lending her vocals on Pretty Reckless’ Death by Rock and Rollwith assistance from guitarist Aria Hurtado and Lindsay Martin on the drums (straight off international tour with Lilith Czar). The metaphysical Sterling Victorian stunned everyone with No Doubt’s “Bathwater.” Mia FluXx and Jasmine Crowe performed a moving duet of Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman.”

Ending the epic night with a grand finale, the Gritty community all took the stage to perform Shania Twain’s perfectly fitting song “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.” Also featured at the event was the women’s equality patio, with tables from non-profit organizations LB/OC Women Rising and Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights.
