JESS JOCOY TO RELEASE LET THERE BE NO DESPAIR SECOND FULL LENGTH CD OUT MAY 20, 2022

On May 20, 2022, singer-songwriter Jess Jocoy is set to release Let There Be No Despair. Teaming up once again with co/producer Brandon Bell (Zac Brown, Miranda Lambert, Brandi Carlile) the new release was recorded at Cabin Studios in Nashville. Jocoy’s story songs are full of uplifting sorrow which she sings with honest sincerity. Let There Be No Despair follows her previous releases, the critically acclaimed Such a Long Way and Brighter Eyes.

“What stands out … is Jocoy’s crystal clear, diamond cut voice which has echoes of some of the great country voices of the past fifty years or so.” Americana UK

Having grown up south of Seattle, hitting every karaoke joint and singing competition her parents could drive her to, Jocoy kept her eye ever on the prize: Nashville. Her parents supported her every step of the way, but before Jocoy could fully see her dream of making music become reality, her father passed away from lung cancer in 2013, six months after his diagnosis. Rather than running from it, she instead wove her grief into the threads of her songs, realizing that pain is a universal feeling, and not to be ignored. “That’s when I really started to learn how to write sad songs,” Jocoy explains.

In June of 2018, “Long Live the Song,” her anthemic ode to the abiding essence of great songwriting, won the nationwide Uber Music Movers competition, where she opened for Chase Rice during Nashville’s annual CMA Fest. In 2019, she was featured on an episode of the hit TV show Songland. She was an official showcase artist at AmericanaFest in 2019 and has been the Sunday Spotlight showcase artist twice onstage at The Bluebird Café in Nashville. Quarantined in her adopted hometown for multiple months, she began creating 2021’s Brighter Eyes, a self-produced EP that glimmered with reverb, swooning pedal steel, and other cinematic touches.
Most recently, Iain Anderson on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio Ulster as ‘Artist of the Week’ on the Eve Blair Late Show featured music from Jocoy who, in addition, was voted as winner of the Americana-UK Twang Factor 2 and named as Caffè Nero Artist of the Month for November 2021, her music played in over 750 coffee houses across the UK.

“A smooth blend of traditional country and folk sounds.” No Depression

Now Jocoy is back with her second full length release embracing her folk roots; creating a soft-hued album full of the power of resilience and the search for silver linings. The ten tracks highlight what Jess Jocoy does best: lets the listener inside stories of survival and hope. Of Let There Be No Despair Jocoy says, “it’s a record for the days when life tries to break your heart.” Having garnered a Trans-Atlantic following, Let There Be No Despair releases ahead of an extensive month-long 22-date tour across the UK in June which includes festival, supporting, co-headlining and headlining dates.

“…An exciting songwriter destined to be one of the greatest of her generation.” Alan Cackett
