TAKE ACTION ON FIRST-EVER MTV MENTAL HEALTH ACTION DAY WITH GRITTY IN PINK X CHARITY BOMB: STRANGE MINDS

Organizations Team Up For Two-Part Livestream Series concluding on May 20

Los Angeles (May 2021): Gritty In Pink has partnered with Charity Bomb in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month with a dual livestream series dedicated to raising awareness and funds for this significant cause. The first show was on Tuesday, May 11, benefiting Charity Bomb’s Operation GENzEQ, which combats mental illness among our youth. The livestream was Gritty In Pink’s most successful show yet, culminating over 1,600 live viewers and raising hundreds of dollars, and it is now available to view @grittyinpinklife IGTV, The second half of the series will be on Thursday, May 20 at p.m. PST/10 p.m. EST to celebrate Mental Health Action Day, powered by MTV  Entertainment Group. Both shows are graciously sponsored by Monster Energy, as well as supporting partners Owl’s Brew, Pitfire Pizza and Guitar Girl Magazine.

The opening show was filled with memorable conversations with mental health advocates including Diamante, Stacey Dee of Bad Cop Bad Cop, The Dollyrots, Madeline Rosene, Constance Antoinette, Mel Senese, and Jules & the Howl. The artists spoke about their own mental health journeys and the value of destigmatizing mental health, which is especially important to impose in today’s youth.

Kelly Ogden, a part of the parent duo The Dollyrots, said, “I think that Operation GENzEQ is really important. Our kids are 4 and 7. The 7-year-old definitely struggled this past year. We had our ups and downs, and I worry about the long-term effects of their mental health from this experience, but there’s hope on the horizon.”

For its next show on May 20, Gritty In Pink is thrilled to welcome Charity Bomb’s Matthew Leone, Pam McNall from Respectful Ways, Talinda Bennington, founder of 320 Foundation, emerging artist Rachel Lorin, Eva Gardner, bassist for P!nk, indie-pop star Lesibu Grand, soulful songstress Rozzi and rising TikTok star Kesley Bou.

All funds raised during this series will go to Operation GENzEQ, an organization creating an entertaining EQ/SEL educational platform (designed by top industry experts) that will provide Gen Z with the emotional tools needed in order to thrive. Matthew Leone, founder Charity Bomb, says, “Our first show was a beautiful success, with a kind and generous audience who were engaged with our preventative mental illness solution Operation GenZEQ. We are thrilled to do it again on May 20 for MTV’s MHAD!”

Mental Health Action Day is an MTV-led coalition of nonprofits, brands and influential leaders, collaborating to drive our culture from awareness to action, and providing tangible tools to help us all take action for ourselves, our loved ones, and our community. This is especially vital in the wake of COVID-19 because millions of people have uncovered new mental health conditions, and millions more have had their existing challenges exacerbated. It is clear that we must take action now, to meet the needs of our communities and identify opportunities to build long-term resilience.

Gritty in Pink is a new platform empowering women in music through performance,  partnerships, and networking opportunities. Founder Shira Yevin has a legendary history of breaking down barriers and carving out a space for women, as the creator of the Vans Warped Tour Shiragirl Stage, which featured 300+ female musicians, including Joan Jett and Paramore. Gritty in Pink continues that legacy of providing community and a stage for female voices in a male-dominated industry, having showcased 175+ artists with a collective IG following of over 2.6 Million.

Charity Bomb is an unconventional, solutions-based 501c3 that aims to reverse the trends of mental illness and its symptoms, including anxiety, depression, and suicide, among our youth. We aim to achieve this by creating an exciting and engaging social and emotional learning educational platform that integrates methods of curriculum (scientifically, proven to be effective) into these activities.
