Story? How Grammy-Winning Latina Star Alejandra Guzmán Raised $10,000 for Cancer Research

Sold-Out Show Raised $10,000 for Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County to Bolster Breast Cancer Research

Curacao, a top U.S. 50 retailer, announced today the success of its second annual Latinos United Concert, headlined by celebrated Latina rock star, Alejandra Guzmán. The intimate event held at the Mayan in Los Angeles featured a private showing for select customers who made purchases in-store or online during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Curacao’s initiative made a $10,000 donation to the Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County possible.

“The concert was an amazing success and we could not have been more excited to have Alejandra Guzmán headline our annual concert,” said Sophia Cortez, the company’s director of marketing operations and head of the Curacao Foundation. “We take pride in the communities that we serve and are thrilled with the response and reaction from our attendees. Each year we look to partner with the most impactful local organizations and Susan G. Komen Los Angeles was the perfect fit.”

Alejandra Guzmán participated in the Latinos United 2.0 Concert as a stop on her international tour, La Guzman. At the pre-show meet and greet, Alejandra was able to connect with the fans alongside representatives from Curacao and Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County. With ticketholders lined up around the block, Alejandra’s popularity was reinforced as she performed select hits for more than an hour.

“It was such an honor to perform at the Latinos United 2.0 concert and support an organization that is so dear to me, since I am a breast cancer survivor myself,” said performer Alejandra Guzmán. “Working with the Curacao Foundation has been great and seeing the work that they have done is very inspiring to me and survivors everywhere I’m sure.”

“Alejandra Guzmán is nonstop energy personified, a powerhouse on stage & a true warrior among breast cancer survivors. The Latinos United 2.0 concert was a phenomenal event & we are grateful to the Curacao Foundation for hosting it & for their generous support & donation to Susan G. Komen during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And a shout out to their team. It was wonderful to work with them,” enthused Mark Pilon, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County.

Curacao constantly looks for ways to create stronger and more unified communities for each person it serves. In 2019 alone, the Curacao Foundation has helped build up its communities through weekly furniture donations to needy local families via our Direct Community Assistance program, a donation of 10,000 trees to California forests in support of the reforestation efforts from the recent fires, and support for local schools with new computers and classroom equipment during the back-to-school season. A percentage of every purchase made at Curacao all year long backs the foundation and contributes to the on-going support of local communities.
