Last night in Atlanta, Georgia at a club named The Masquerade a little tour came to play. The tour is called “The Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock” and it is just that. This tour includes on its bill Cilver, Eyes Set to Kill, Lacuna Coil, and is headlined by Sick Puppies.
Cilver opened the show with an entertaining sound reminiscent of the Smashing Pumpkins. The crowd seemed to enjoy the opening band with good response. The second band to take to the Heaven stage at the Masquerade was Eyes Set to Kill. Eyes Set to Kill is a musically good live band which was emphasized by nice lighting. Cilver and Eyes Set to Kill are very talented bands with the potential to have long musical careers.
Lacuna Coil took to the stage in the third slot and the crowd went wild. This rock band from Italy knows how to command a stage. The lovely dual vocals with hard rock music are what this band does best. It is like seeing a small theater musical when watching this band perform. An operatic style from the lady, Cristinia Scabbia, while the gentleman, Andrea Ferro, of the band offers a complementary vocal; and the band backs them up with great drums, guitar and bass. There could not have been a better band to bring a wonderful feeling before the headlining band.
The headliner Sick Puppies took to the stage with a roar from the crowd. This was the moment everyone had been waiting for all night. Sick Puppies have a way of always bringing high energy to every show and this performance was no different. Sick Puppies is an Australian band who seems to have fun, no matter what, on stage. Seeing this band live is like no other experience you will ever have. They like to interact with the crowd from the stage, and will have you wanting to sing along with every lyric, no matter if you know them or not. The band played well, sounded great, and looked spectacular highlighted by red, white, green, and blue LED light strips behind them. An encore was demanded from the crowd and the band did not disappoint.
A show is only as good as its performers and this “Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock Tour” is fantastic. This is the way hard rock should be performed. If you have a bucket list, make sure you add seeing Lacuna Coil and Sick Puppies live in concert to it, you will not be disappointed. Having a great opening and ending live music experience is what was brought to the Heaven’s stage at the Masquerade last night.
