Young Indie-Pop Trio Moonrise Nation to Release Self-Titled EP

Newly Signed To Bobby Z (Prince and The Revolution) ZINC RECORDS
Summer Tour Announced with Celebrated Malaysian Singer/Songwriter YUNA

Moonrise Nation, the young indie-pop trio from Chicago, is thrilled to have signed with Zinc Records, the label founded and owned by producer and Minneapolis native, Bobby Z – who spent a decade as the original drummer, recording and touring with PRINCE for The Revolution.  Bobby Z is also known for his revered production skills on the chart topping debut album for fellow Revolution member’s Wendy & Lisa.

The deal came about, not via Youtube, Facebook or any other New Media Social Hybrid – but rather, the old school way; watching the band play live.  Instantly, the Z’Bros were riveted.  Bobby Z taps into what he found most appealing about the girls, “With their moving harmonies, incredible song writing and inspired performances, you know right away – Moonrise Nation is something special.”

After signing Moonrise Nation, Bobby Z naturally enlisted the help of his brother, award-winning producer David Z, also known for his longstanding collaborations with PRINCE, in addition to his work on albums by Etta James, Jonny Lang, Billy Idol, Buddy Guy, Neneh Cherry and on the hit #1 single, “She Drives Me Crazy” by Fine Young Cannibals.   After hearing the trio, David knew he wanted to work on their debut, Moonrise Nation are originators. They don’t sound like anyone else. These girls are making new music.”

Sixteen-year-old vocalist/pianist, Arden Bee, joins her older sister, Cellist/Bassist Eva, and Emma McCall, guitarist/percussionist, to form this dynamic mid-west trio.  Moonrise Nation found their start two years ago, taking the stage at various open mic’s around their home town of Chicago. What began as two high school friends, Emma and Eva, sharing and performing songs for each other in family rooms, quickly turned into two friends and a younger sister (Arden) sharing a whole set list on the slightly bigger, yet still intimate, Chicago music scene.  The group’s unique take on folk-pop coupled with their elegantly sparse arrangements and delicate harmonies quickly won them a solid following.

Over one summer, Moonrise Nation went from hurriedly choosing their band name to fill an open mic roster to signing with The Windish Agency for booking and headlining at Chicago’s Hard Rock Café weekly during their 2013 fall residency.  That “big” feeling kept right on coming as the stages got broader and the listening base got wider. In 2013, while still recording their first EP, Moonrise Nation was invited to play the Electric Forest Music Festival with some of their most idolized contemporaries.  Upon return to Chicago, the band finally gave their audiences’ what they were yearning for in this recently released self-titled EP.

Moonrise Nation join the critically acclaimed young Malaysian Singer-Songwriter, Yuna on all dates except where noted below.
