Brooklyn-based alt-pop singer-songwriter and musician Miranda Joan recently dropped her new single, “Too Much (Coffee),” along with a lyric visualizer, a fusion of two singles into one delicious song.
Talking about “Too Much (Coffee),” Miranda shares, “The single was written in a desperate moment when I found myself in the aftermath of indulgence. Sometimes when you love deeply, you can lose yourself in it. The single asks the question: what’s the harm in having one more.”
Originally from Montreal, Miranda grew up on the north shore of Vancouver. Shy, she filled diaries with her emotions and experiences. Later, she performed in high school dramatical productions and musical theatre. Soul, R&B, and jazz provided a natural matrix for her voice.
Eventually, she moved to New York to study jazz and opened her inquisitive sound and creative style to a host of artists and producers in her musical surroundings, as well as the grittiness and intensity of the city.
Establishing herself in Brooklyn’s vibrant musical community, Miranda is the co-host and co-founder of Brooklyn’s Femme Jam (NYC’s first all-female-led jam session), a community initiative to create a womxn-led space with an emphasis on female musicians that fosters inclusivity.
Miranda Joan has shared the stage with high-profile artists including Andy Grammar, Lorde, and Shawn Mendes, along with receiving praise from elite media outlets.
