Tuesday Feb 25 – Yola performed her single “I Don’t Wanna Lie” on The Late Late Show With James Corden last night, watch here. Yola will join The Black Keys on their US tour in August and September alongside Gary Clark Jr.

The queen of country soul was recently announced to play legendary singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe, in Baz Luhrmann’s musical drama “Elvis.” Yola will appear alongside Austin Butler in the title role, Tom Hanks as Elvis Presley’s manager Colonel Tom Parker and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Presley’s mother. Yola stated, “It means so much to play the icon that is Sister Rosetta Tharpe. It is an honor to celebrate her foundational role in creating rock n roll. I’m such a fan of Baz Luhrmann too, so I couldn’t think of a better match for my first acting role if I’d planned it all myself!”

On Saturday Feb 22, Yola celebrated the one year anniversary of the release of Walk Through Fire, her critically acclaimed, Dan Auerbach produced debut record. The queen of country-soul celebrated with a sold out show at iconic Los Angeles venue, The Troubadour, with a second sold out show tonight, at the same venue.  Following Yola’s sell out US The Walk Through Fire tour, Yola soon heads to Australia to perform at Blues Fest. Yola released her critically acclaimed debut album Walk Through Fire in February 2019 and established herself as the queen of country soul from the very first note. Nine months later, she received four GRAMMY award nominations including Best New Artist.

The album, produced by Dan Auerbach, is a contemporary twist on a traditional sonic tapestry of orchestral strings, fiddle, steel, and shimmering tremolo guitars. Walk Through Fire is a career-defining and genre-bending release from one of the most exciting emerging British artists in music today. The album received accolades including Rolling Stone’s Artist You Need To Know and NPR Music’s Artist To Watch in 2019 who said Yola is “an artist sure to stun audiences for years to come.”

Yola has performed on The Late Late Show With James Corden, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! and was the first taping of Austin City Limits for it’s 46th season. Yola’s US headline tour has multiple sold out dates including two nights at the Troubadour in Los Angeles and she has appeared at The Hollywood Bowl, Newport Folk Festival, SXSW and Farm Aid. She has performed with Kacey Musgraves, Mavis Staples and will open for The Black Keys and Chris Stapleton on his 2020 tour, including a performance at Madison Square Gardens in New York. Yola will soon feature in The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s The Unbroken Circle exhibit paired with Dolly Parton and will play Sister Rosetta Tharpe in Baz Luhrmann’s musical drama “Elvis,” alongside Tom Hanks and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Yola’s debut album Walk Through Fire was released on Dan Auerbach’s record label, Easy Eye Sound, distributed by his longtime label Nonesuch Records. https://store.easyeyesound.com
