The La Bella string company has been around for 100 years, so it's no surprise that they are an innovator in their industry. I had the chance to review their new, Vapor Shield guitar strings, and I was very impressed with them.
Well, this is a “can” of fun! When it arrives, just open the box, tune it, and start to pluck.
The new digital effects processor and interface for guitarists/bassists, the iRig UA from IK Multimedia, is an external device that plugs into any Android 4.2 or later device whether it be a cell phone or tablet and works with the AmpliTube UA app. I was extremely pleased to know that IK Multimedia now offers their iRig technology for us Android users. I was given the opportunity to review this new device.
With the rise in popularity of the selfie, comes the selfie stick that even our Commander in Chief has found useful. IK Multimedia yesterday announced the release of their newest product, the iKlip Grip, a multifunction smartphone camera stand that literally is a 4-in-1 device. Not only can it be used for fun “selfies” to share on social media sites, it is quite handy for a multitude of uses to include a camera handler/stabilizer, a tripod, a monopod, or an adapter. I was given the opportunity to preview this product and was quite impressed.
This is my first review of any type of iRig mic, but after using some of IK Multimedia's other products, and really liking them, I was ready to see what this compact mic could do.
A few years ago, when I discovered the original iRig, i was so excited. As a musician that traveled, the iRig (in my case along with the IK multimedia app, AmpliTube) it gave me the ability to practice, record new song ideas, and transcribe songs while on the road with great sound quality, and minimal equipment. I loved the sound quality and ease of the apps that I found that even when I wasn't on the road, I was using the iRig for practicing and recording ideas at home.
Bryan Kaufman, founder of Dog Days Vintage guitar straps, has come up with a very creative idea of what to do with old, vintage materials. He had the idea for the vintage straps after seeing some old curtains in a vintage clothing store. Dog Days is a family owned business and all the straps are hand made right here in the U.S.A.
With texts, tweets, posts, blogs, Skype and OMG phone calls, your phone alone can be a distraction from focusing on making your music. You know when you can look inside to really let your creativity flow. Be it when you’re in your quiet place at 3AM by candle light or at full volume under the bright stage lights with your crew, Hogjim, Kyle Koster’s creation and the Mongolian word for music, their guitar straps, pick holders and t-shirts help focus on making the magic happen.
La Luna Sound is a Denver based company that produces beautiful handcrafted guitar picks made from exotic woods such as Rosewood, Bubinga, Olive, as well as a few others. According to their website, they begin with micro-thin layers of wood, and then add an internal layer of natural fiber for strength, and those layers are then joined and glued together using 1,000+ pounds of pressure.
I, like many practicing guitarists/musicians, have grown tired of the annoying sounds of a metronome. So when I was presented the opportunity to review the BeatBuddy, I was excited. I thought it would be a great tool to make my practice sessions more interesting. Once I started using the BeatBuddy, I felt like a kid in a candy store. With 200 preloaded beats, and 10 drum sounds on the provided 4 gb SD card (you can get new beats and updates online), I realized it was everything I was hoping it would be, and so much more.
